How we gave our social media a personality makeover

November 4th was an exciting day at FirstFound.

Our new website and new look went live.

Our brilliant web design team had worked so hard to get to this point and could do a sigh of relief as everything went as planned. It was time to pass the baton over to me, in social media, where I had to run the next part of the race.

We needed to reposition ourselves in the market to show that we are more than a search engine company. We are a digital marketing agency.  A digital marketing agency that puts our people and our relationships at the core of everything we do.

That was easier said than done.

How do you stand out on Facebook where there are over 1.7 billion monthly users? Or Twitter where there are 317 million users and counting?

Here’s how we did it

Go #BehindTheScenes

At current #behindthescenes has over 3 million Instagram posts. One glance and it’s easy to see this is a hashtag that you can get involved in, and even use to interest your customers.

Using Instagram we show highlights of our company culture. Right from initial plans, to creative brainstorming and quality control, Instagram is a great platform for showing the inner workings of our office.


Shared our infinite wisdom

For companies that offer a service, you will be particularly familiar with the struggle of highlighting your knowledge, without giving too much away.

The trick here? We had to a strike a balance and engage outside of our customer base.

We took to Twitter chats, we shared our best tips and we asked members of our team to share their knowledge on our blog. By doing this, we were not only demonstrating our knowledge but taking steps towards building our relationships and putting faces to names you deal with every day.

Celebrate successes

It feels like we’re on a winning streak at FirstFound lately. Since the launch of our new website we’ve become a Premier Google partner, one of our social media apprentices has graduated to become a full-time employee and we even gained an office plant.

All in all, it’s been a good month.

By sharing this information on social media we’re inviting our customers to celebrate our successes with us and creating talking points.


Plus we have the added benefit of boosting morale internally and bringing our employees on board with sharing content. Secret alert: this is the quickest way to increase your audience and engagement.

Build relationships with other companies

Remember in the previous point when I said employees were your secret weapon for increasing audiences and engagement? Well, there’s more to come.

If you’ve recently completed a project, share your success stories and invite your customers to do the same. Generating social proof through any social networks can greatly increase the likelihood of your brand being discovered. When we build a website that we’re particularly proud of or get another one of our clients to the top of Google, we’re not afraid to toot our own horn.

The success of these events demonstrates our professional development and progression, whilst showcasing our capabilities as a digital agency.
