New additions coming to Facebook Live
Facebook continues its push to get more users to engage with its live streaming video platform with the addition of some new features.
First off is the ability to use different filters from within MSQRD while broadcasting live, similar to those on Snapchat.
Next up is the ability to drop-in on other users Live streams which sounds similar to the Cameo function of Meerkat.

Finally Live waiting rooms will let users gather before live broadcasts giving them a fixed place to wait rather than tuning in and waiting for a broadcaster to begin.
Tumblr goes live
It seems that live video is the must have feature for social platforms these days with Tumblr launching its own version of live broadcasts. Videos can be posted using YouNow, Kanvas, Upclose and YouTube and can be reblogged like any other post on Tumblr. They will also stay active once ended so can be enjoyed in the future.
New ad products coming to Facebook
At the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity Facebook unveiled several upcoming advertising features and products. From the beta test of its new Audience Insights API to updates to Slideshow and Canvas, there are some big changes coming to the advertising side of Facebook.
Some of the updates include the ability to add audio and text overlays for Slideshow ads and making it easier to create Slideshow and Canvas adverts for small businesses. The final update is the new Facebook Creative Hub which will allow agencies to play with different ad formats and preview in a dynamic mobile feed, it will also give them the ability to share mockups with stakeholders through a preview URL.
Twitter announces new companion app
A new companion app for Twitter called Twitter Engage has been launched to show real-time data and insights to help users understand, engage and grow their audiences. The new app surfaces the most important follows and @mentions from influencers and gives you, even more, ways to measure performance and see what’s happening in your network.
Instagram hits 500 million users
Wow, it seems like only yesterday that Instagram had a tenth of that number when Mark Zuckerberg acquired the company for $1 billion in 2012. The Facebook mogul certainly knew exactly what he was doing and Instagram has enjoyed a meteoric rise in users over the past 4 years. With more than 300 million users every day, Instagram has enjoyed global success with more that 80 percent of its community living outside the USA. Will it become as big as Facebook?
