Take a look on Google and use the search suggestions at the bottom of the search results to get an idea of potential search terms and topics that users are searching for the are related to keywords you’d like to target. Click on each of the terms and see what the first page results look like. For any question-based terms, you should find plenty of article style results and these are who you are trying to compete with. You’ll want to analyse each of the results on the first page making a note of how in-depth they are, key points they cover, article length and note down opportunities where you feel you could produce better content.

Refresh older content

One of the best ways to really get the most from your content marketing is by updating and refreshing older content. It is much easier to update existing content than it is to create new content so take the opportunity to refresh any blogs, how-to guides or other written content that has become out of date, this can help bring you a fresh source of traffic and give your content a lift.

As well as refreshing content another option is to repurpose existing content that has performed well.
